A person who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two children both nine and 10.

The defendant was arrested after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in the summer month.

The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old child.

Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.

The defendant played a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She stated to the judge the defendant had engaged in this activity with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.

She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had worries in summer 2025.

The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

Mrs Prior KC stated materials including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepson notified the authorities about his suspicions.

She said Ruben went on to play the "sweet game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The legal representative explained the children were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member notified the police a second time.

She said the man then played the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
